Fishing

East Pond is a wonderful place to fish. There are many types of fish including White Perch and Trout. Please be mindful and respectful of other boaters, fishermen and swimmers as well as the indigenous animals like the loons, osprey, eagles and herons. Also please make sure you have a fishing license – you can obtain a license at D&L Country Store 573 Smithfield Rd, Oakland 207-465-3439.

Boating

East Pond welcomes all safe boaters. A public boat launch is located on the South end of the lake off East Pond Rd. Please be mindful of the requests of the courtesy boat inspectors and help them identify any occurrences of vegetation, specifically milfoil. Milfoil, once admitted to a lake, grows so quickly that it takes over the lake, affecting both fishing and swimming.

Download a copy of Maine Boating Laws and Open Fishing Regulations for information about fishing and boating on East Pond.  These are available from the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife of the State of Maine, or from the town clerks in Oakland and Smithfield.
